Jason Matthews is the founder and owner of Yellowstone Dog Sled Adventures. He has been a professional wilderness guide for over 20 years. Called “an encyclopedia” by the New York Times, Jason is also a naturalist, environmental educator, wildlife photographer and videographer whose work has appeared on the National Geographic Channel, and Nat Geo Wild.
An arctic explorer, Jason recently worked on a National Geographic Society research team studying Polar Bears and Climate Change in arctic Alaska. This work was made into a documentary for the National Geographic Channel, and he was awarded Fellowships to The Explorer's Club, and the Royal Geographical Society.
Jason is a certified Master Naturalist, and a former instructor at Montana State University, and the Voyageur Outward Bound School.
He divides his time between Bozeman, Montana and Fairbanks, Alaska. He travels between the two with his wife, two young sons and 48 sled dogs. He has worked for National Geographic, Animal Planet Channel, Nat Geo Wild, the Voyageur Outward Bound School, Ely, MN and as a columnist for RIVER magazine, the Montana Pioneer, and Outside Bozeman Magazine.
