Felted Husky Pets
Take one of our huskies home with you!  Handcrafted by Catherine Matthews, right at our kennel, and at our camp.  These lovable stuffed animals are made from the wool of our own Icelandic Sheep, and with tufts of our huskies hair.

How are they made?
Needle felting is a folk-art.  You start, by rolling up a small amount of wool and stabbing it with a specialized needle.  When the wool is stabbed with the felting needle, it pulls the wool into itself.  By stabbing the wool with the needle over and over while turning the wool you  begin to get a firm round shape.  From that basic shape you continue to add more wool, compacting it and shaping it into a sculpture.  It takes 5 hours of labor to make one husky!    $40 - $150

The Wool

In addition to raising Huskies.  We also raise Icelandic Sheep on our families farm, just outside of Bozeman.  Icelandic Sheep are a hardy breed that date back to Ancient Norway and are known for their thick double coat, that allowed them (like huskies) to survive in the coldest Arctic climates.

Icelandic wool is unique because of the purity of the strain that has been protected by centuries of isolation and total absence of contact with others. The wool is a combination of inner and outer fibers and it comes in variety of natural colors.   It is ideally suited for fiber arts.
